South Bend, Mishawaka, Walkerton police departments become Safe Place sites

The South Bend, Mishawaka and Walkerton police departments are the newest registered Safe Places in St. Joseph County.

Safe Places are designated businesses, fire departments, police departments and other agencies where people ages 12 to 18 who are in a crisis can go for help and access to temporary housing, according to the Youth Service Bureau of St. Joseph County. There are more than 100 Safe Place sites in St. Joseph County.

The Safe Place program also provides individual and family counseling for teens with the goal of reuniting teens with their families.
