A Dowagiac teenager has a chance to avoid a felony charge through a delayed sentencing.
Kayden Isaiah Dungey, 16, pleaded guilty to resisting and obstructing police in Cass County Circuit Court and was given an 11-month monitoring sentence.
An assault charge was dropped.
The incident happened back in October during an attempted home invasion in Dowagiac.
Leader Publications reports Dungey has an extensive juvenile record, with 15 entries that had escalated in violence. Dungey’s defense attorney says his client has been taking online classes and trying to get employment
