Caretakers charged after 62-year-old Michigan man found by police in filthy bed

MOUNT MORRIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say two caretakers kept a bedridden man in filthy conditions for several years at a Flint-area home.

The Flint Journal reports 45-year-old Andrew Gulatte Green and 59-year-old Patsy Ann Marshall are due back in court Sept. 24 in Genesee County after being arraigned on charges of unlawful imprisonment and first-degree vulnerable adult abuse.

Both have requested court-appointed lawyers.

Mount Morris Township police say Marshall had power of attorney over the 62-year-old, who was in a bed saturated with urine and feces. Investigators went to check on him Sept. 8 after his adult children who live out of state couldn’t get in contact with him.

Lt. Matt Lasky says the adult children went to the home but weren’t allowed inside and smelled a foul odor, so they called police.
