Berrien County flag available for purchase for limited time for $100

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) — A southwestern Michigan treasurer is making the flag for Berrien County available for purchase for a limited time.

The flag includes symbols for France, Spain, Great Britain, which all have occupied land in the area in the past, as well as the United States.

Berrien County Treasurer Sharon Tyler tells The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph it’s “amazing how much history there is here … and it’s because of the waterways.”

The cost is $100 per flag and orders will be taken until Oct. 1.

The 3-by-7-foot nylon flag is double-sided and has headings and grommets to allow it to be mounted on a pole outdoors. The flag sale followed the suggestion of county commissioners, who had received requests from residents who wanted one of their own.
