A man’s body was found in a ditch near Ireland Road in South Bend.

The 54-year-old man could have been the victim of a hit-and-run, according to WSBT.

Police were called to the 20900 block of W. Ireland Road around 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.

It’s believed the body could have been struck during the overnight hours, WSBT reported.

The Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) and St. Joseph County Police spent several hours investigating the scene on Saturday.

Ireland Road was blocked in the area of Linden Road while authorities were on scene.
