FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is winding down its regular season, but the zoo reopens on Friday decorated for Halloween.
The zoo’s last regular season day is Sunday. Zoo Director Jim Anderson says there was a lot to celebrate during 2015. The zoo celebrated its 50th birthday this year. It opened The Reef, an area featuring sharks and tropical fish, and a new area called Stingray Bay.
Also this year, the zoo broke ground on a third phase of its $7 million Australian Adventure renovation, and welcomed many baby animals.
Crews this week will decorate the zoo with pumpkins and animal sculptures for a kid-friendly trick-or-treating event. Wild Zoo Halloween is open Oct. 16-18, 22-25 and 29-31 from noon to 6 p.m. with last admission at 5 p.m.
