Police chase reaches speeds of almost 120 mph before suspect crashes vehicle in Marshall County

A 19-year-old woman was arrested after police say she led them on a chase reaching speeds of nearly 120mph in Marshall County on Thursday morning, Oct. 15.

Vanessa McCracken of Columbia City was booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, aggressive driving and leaving the scene of a crash, according to WNDU. She’s being held on $1,500 bond.

A Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputy tried to pull over a vehicle driven by McCracken near U.S. 30 and King Road early Thursday morning.

Instead of pulling over, McCracken drove away, crashing through a fence, driving through a field and crashing into a ditch filled with water, police told WNDU.

Police found her in a different ditch with the help of a police K-9 and she was treated for injuries at a hospital before she was booked into jail.
