Authorities identify 3 dead in Van Buren County Michigan crash

PORTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities have identified three young people who died in a rollover crash in Porter County in southwestern Michigan.

The Van Buren County sheriff’s department says 21-year-old driver Brandon Mark Vanwalbeck was found dead Thursday morning in Porter Township along with a 15-year-old boy, Andrew Michael Rambow, and a 16-year-old girl, Hunter Jewel LaRose.

All were from Vicksburg, where grief counselors were made available for students at the area’s schools on Friday, Oct. 16.

The 21-year-old man was driving the teens, lost control of the car and struck a tree, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department. The car rolled several times and landed in a wooded area, according to the Sheriff’s Department reported.

In southeastern Michigan, state police say 37-year-old and 25-year-old men died Thursday morning on the ramp from northbound Interstate 275 to westbound I-96 in Novi. An SUV driven by the 37-year-old veered and struck a tow truck driven by the other man that was stopped on the shoulder behind a car with a flat tire.
