Indiana driving instructor dies in crash while teaching student how to drive

STOCKWELL, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a driving instructor died from injuries he suffered when a pickup truck ran into a car with a student driver behind the wheel on a central Indiana highway.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department says the 16-year-old driver stopped abruptly while preparing to turn left on a four-lane section of U.S. 52 in a rural area about 10 miles southeast of Lafayette. The pickup truck then crashed into the back of the Indiana All Star Driving School car.

The sheriff’s department says 69-year-old Paul Foster suffered chest injuries in the Saturday afternoon crash and died early Sunday at a Lafayette hospital. The teen driver was treated at the hospital for injuries and released.
