Chance Christmas puppy recovering after surgeries, police still searching for suspect

A puppy found in Michigan City with its mouth duct taped shut is recovering with a foster family after he underwent several surgeries.

Chance Christmas also had broken hips, but is recovering after he was taken to a clinic and received medical treatment, WSBT reported.

“I think he looks great. I mean he’s just still such a sweet little guy and his ears are crazy,” Maggie Sharpe, a veternarian who treated Chance, told WSBT. “We were talking about how big his ears are and how happy he is.”

Chance is going through physical and mental rehabilitation before he will be adopted.

Police are still looking for Chance’s owner, 50-year-old Richard Cope. Cope faces animal abuse charges in connection to Chance’s injuries.
