Mishawaka woman arrested for OWI, hit-and-run crash in Michigan

Police say a 31-year-old woman was intoxicated while driving when her vehicle hit another object on U.S. 12 in St. Joseph County, Mich., on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 17.

The woman was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated and a hit and run crash at about 1 p.m., according to Michigan State Police.

When officers pulled the woman’s vehicle over on U.S. 12 near Lutz Road, it had three flat tires, a missing passenger side mirror and front end damage. The woman told police that she had been drinking and that she may have fallen asleep when her vehicle hit an unknown object about a mile west of where she was stopped, according to the Michigan State Police.

Police couldn’t locate the object that the woman’s vehicle struck. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Michigan State Police post in White Pigeon, Mich., at 269-657-5551.
