Armed robbery spree in South Bend, Mishawaka likely committed by one suspect, police say

Police say six armed robberies reported in Mishawaka and South Bend since Jan. 6 were likely committed by the same person.

Robberies have been reported at:

  • Family Video, 5714 N. Main St., Mishawaka — Jan. 6, Jan. 10, Jan. 23
  • Tiki Tan, 3622 E. Edison Road Suite 500, South Bend — Jan. 13
  • JJ’s Fish and Chicken, 3622 E. Edison Road Suite 400, South Bend — Jan. 17
  • Dollar Tree, 2352 Miracle Lane, Mishawaka — Jan. 25

Police believe the same man committed all of the robberies because they happened close together in a short period of time and because the suspects in some of the robberies mentioned having a sick child.

Michiana Crime Stoppers featured the spree in a public service announcement, but tips lead police to a suspect who was already in jail, the South Bend Tribune reported.

Tips are still needed.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to contact Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-7867.
