Bus carrying Indiana high school team overturns on I-65

DEMOTTE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say at least 14 people are being treated for injuries after a bus carrying a northwest Indiana high school basketball team overturned on an interstate.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Alan Jamerson of says the rollover occurred Saturday on Interstate 65 near DeMotte.

The bus was carrying the Griffith High School boys basketball team and staff to a state semifinal game Saturday against Marion in Lafayette.

Jamerson tells the Post-Tribune that “there are no serious injuries involved.”

Those who were injured were taken to at least two area hospitals.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association says on its Twitter account that the game has been postponed. Officials say they’ll talk with Griffith High School administrators Sunday about a possible makeup date.

As a result of the crash, the Warsaw semi state game, Saturday, is being moved to a 7:30 p.m. start with doors opening at 6 p.m.
