Snow, freezing rain forecast for Michigan amid Midwest storm

GAYLORD, Mich. (AP) — A Midwest storm is expected to bring snow and freezing rain to parts of Michigan this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a storm watch that warns of wintry weather on Wednesday and Thursday in parts of the state. Snow and freezing rain are expected to cause hazardous driving conditions. Winds and ice could combine to knock out power in places.

The most snow is forecast in the northern Lower Peninsula, where 5 to 7 inches if predicted. The middle portion of the Lower Peninsula also could see snow, with 3 to 6 inches of accumulation possible. The southern Lower Peninsula is expected to see rain.

Gale warnings also have been issued in the Great Lakes region, including for Lake Michigan and part of Lake Huron.
