5 children, 1 adult injured in house explosion near Saginaw expected to survive

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say five children and one adult injured in a Saginaw-area house explosion are expected to survive.

The Friday afternoon blast leveled the Richland Township home. One child was taken by a medical helicopter to a hospital and other victims were transported by ambulances to hospitals.

Michigan State Police officials say they were surprised not to find more severe injuries. They suspect a propane leak caused the explosion.

Bill Chapman tells WNEM-TV that his son and grandchildren lived in the home. He says “God was watching over them.”
