South Bend residents will soon be able to get a bite of Ben’s Soft Pretzels right downtown.

The South Bend Chocolate Café is opening a franchise location of the Goshen-based pretzel shop inside the restaurant at 122 S. Michigan St., the South Bend Tribune reported.

The shop is expected to open April 26 in time for National Pretzel Day, when all Ben’s locations offer a pretzel in exchange for a minimum $1 donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

The Ben’s Soft Pretzel location will open near where cards and candy are sold. Kristina Tressler, who manages operations for South Bend Chocolate Café, says the two businesses go together like pretzels and chocolate — that is to say, deliciously.

“They are great people and we wanted to bring something new to downtown,” Tressler told the Tribune. “This is something we thought would be a great fit.”

If the match ends up being a winning duo for customers, South Bend Chocolate Company may consider opening up similar shops around Indiana.
