Indiana Republican Party waits to identify national convention delegates

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Republican Party isn’t yet identifying the 57 people who’ve been picked as national convention delegates amid worries from Donald Trump’s supporters that they’re being shut out from delegate selection around the country.

A state Republican spokeswoman says names of the Indiana delegation finalized Wednesday by party leaders will be released by Friday after the delegates have been contacted.

Some delegates selected over the weekend at congressional district meetings complained about receiving email threats from Trump supporters. State police say a review found the messages were political speech and not criminal.

Trump’s Indiana campaign calls the emails “deplorable.”

The Indiana GOP delegates will be committed to a presidential candidate for the first national convention ballot based on the May 3 primary results, but not on any subsequent votes.
