Coroner: Indiana teen dead after tree machinery accident

HARTFORD CITY, Ind. (AP) — Authorities in Indiana say a teenager is dead after an accident involving a tree stump grinder.

WISH-TV reports that Blackford County Coroner Tod Waters says an 18-year-old from Yorktown was working for his uncle’s tree service company when he became “entangled” in the machinery around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The coroner says the teen was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple traumatic injuries. The coroner says the machine appears to be operating normally.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Grant Funeral Home in Yorktown.
