Tyre Bradbury sentenced to 90 years for murder of John Swoveland Jr.

A 17-year-old South Bend boy was sentenced to 90 years in prison for his part in the 2014 shooting death of a 2-year-old boy.

Tyre Bradbury said after his sentencing on Monday, May 16, that he plans to appeal, WSBT reported.

In April, Bradbury was convicted of murder and a criminal gang enhancement in connection to the death of John Swoveland Jr., who was shot and killed while playing in a family member’s yard in April 2014.

John was hit by a stray bullet fired by Robert Griffin during a gang fight at Coquillard Park. Prosecutors said Bradbury gave the gun used in the shooting to Griffin.
