South Shore rates to rise starting in July

The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District Board has voted to approve a 2.5% increase in monthly fares and a 25-cent increase in one way ticket prices on the South Shore line.

The price increases begin on July 1.

The fare increase is dedicated strictly to capital infrastructure projects, according to the NITCD.

The board also approved a change in its family fare increasing the number of children under the age of 14 who may ride free with each parent or adult on off-peak weekday and all weekend/holiday trains from one child to 3 children.

The price increases begin on July 1.
