Five Points intersection roundabout construction begins Tuesday

Construction begins Tuesday, May 31, on the Five Points intersection between Edwardsburg and Union in Cass County, Mich.

A roundabout will be installed at the intersection of U.S. 12, Old M-205 and Five Points Road as part of a $2.2 million project aimed at improving traffic flow and safety, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. The construction also includes drainage improvements, signs and landscaping.

Drivers who travel through the area should detour along Cassopolis Road, Mason Street and Calvin Center Road (see map below).

The construction project is expected to be completed by Sept. 30.

There will be total closures and detours of each leg of the intersection staged throughout construction. The detour route will be posted on Cassopolis Road, Mason Street and Calvin Center Road.
