A South Bend man was arrested earlier in June after police say he was prostituting a 17-year-old girl at an area motel.

David Lee Vaughn, 36, was charged with a level 3 felony count of promoting the human trafficking of a minor and misdemeanor counts of false informing and possession of marijuana, according to court documents.

Vaughn and the victim were found at the Motel 6, 52624 S.R. 933, north of South Bend on June 3, court documents stated. The two were in a room listed under another wanted man’s name and Vaughn gave police a fake name, but investigators eventually learned his real identity.

Police found marijuana in his waistband when he was booked into St. Joseph County Jail, court documents stated.

Officers went to the motel after receiving an anonymous tip.
