Gay rights activists in Michiana and throughout Indiana organized vigils following the shooting at a gay nightclub in Florida that left more than 50 people dead.
Vigils were held Sunday evening at The LGBTQ Center in South Bend and in Indianapolis.
Dozens of residents, including South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg attended a public gathering at the River Lights Plaza at Seitz Park as the light display turned to rainbow colors in honor of the victims.
Safety and acceptance will win over fear and hatred. May our response to #Orlando help us get there sooner rather than later.
