Elkhart woman arrested after man was shot in the leg

Jeanette Gordon, 46, of Elkhart, was arrested on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery with a firearm on Thursday, July 14, 2016.

A 46-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday after police say she shot a man in the leg in Elkhart.

Jeanette Gordon of Elkhart was booked into the Elkhart County Jail on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery with a firearm, Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department said.

Gordon is accused of shooting a 21-year-old man in the leg after a fight near the intersection of Franklin and Krau streets  just before 6 a.m. Thursday.

The man was treated at an area hospital.
