FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — The Indiana Air National Guard has sent 140 airmen from its 122nd Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne and eight jets to Slovakia to take part in joint training exercises.

It is part of a monthlong training exercise known as Operation Atlantic Resolve. The airmen will train alongside members of the Slovakian military and they’ll also take part in cross-border training with other aircraft in the region deployed by the U.S. Air Force and NATO forces. They are scheduled to return home by early August.

The fighter wing also is deploying 150 airmen to spots around the world in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S. military campaign against Islamic State forces and terrorists at war against the governments of Iraq and Syria.
