St. Joseph River drowning victim identified as Elkhart man

The 18-year-old man who drowned in the St. Joseph River near Elkhart on Tuesday night has been identified.

Kendall McGee was swimming in the river with a friend when he went under the water and didn’t resurface sometime between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m., our news partners The Elkhart Truth reported.

McGee’s body was found by emergency responders at about 1:20 p.m.
