A second arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of a man at an Elkhart apartment back earlier this summer.

Shyla Southern, 19, of Goshen was arrested on a preliminary charge of murder and is being held in the Elkhart County Correction Facility, according to Elkhart Police Sgt. Chris Snyder.

It was back on June 23rd when police were called to the 200 block of West Garfield Avenue on the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found the front door of the apartment open. Inside the apartment, they found the body Brandon Jackson, 24, of Elkhart, according to court documents.

Earlier this month, detectives arrested Tyrell Beavers, 18, of Plainfield Illinois for murder.
