NEW CARLISLE, Ind. (AP) — Divers have recovered the body of a 71-year-old fisherman who fell out of a boat in Hudson Lake in northern Indiana.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said in a news release the body of Howard Fetterer was found Sunday morning in eight feet of water about 100 feet from shore.

A witness saw the fisherman fall from a boat early Sunday. Emergency crews from several agencies including local police, sheriff’s department and state conservation police responded to the call.

The fishing boat had personal flotation devices, but Fetterer was not wearing one.

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death with the Laporte County Coroner’s Office. Officials say their initial investigation indicates Fetterer may have had a medical condition that contributed to his death.
