Worker dies in collapse of scaffolding, ladders in Watervliet Township

WATERVLIET TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a worker has died following the collapse of scaffolding and ladders in southwestern Michigan.

The Berrien County sheriff’s department says it responded around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16,  to the construction accident in the 8900 block of Industrial Park Drive in in Watervliet Township.

Carl Lee Stone of Hartford was pronounced dead at the scene. They say a second man was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s department says the cause of the collapse is under investigation.
