A woman was found stabbed to death at Old Farm Apartments in Elkhart.
Officers were sent to the complex in the 500 block of K Lane in Elkhart around 12:25 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, where they entered an apartment and found the victim, according to Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department.
At this point in the investigation it appears there was a domestic dispute which led the accused stabbing the victim, Savanna Best, 20, of Elkhart, Snyder stated.
Police have arrested Israel Ordonez Calixto, 31, of Elkhart, on a preliminary murder charge.
Israel is being held in the Elkhart County Jail.
Detectives were still conducting interviews and processing the scene for evidence on Thursday afternoon.
An autopsy on Best’s body is expected to take place on Friday.

I live around the corner n it’s sad that these things are happening in our own neighborhoods, we don’t feel safe. Yet along there has been a few crimes in these apartments and yet more crimes in Elkhart county, I think the apts should invest in putting cameras because you will loose clients and we don not feel safe in our neighborhood anymore ,
