COLOMA, Mich. (AP) — A southwestern Michigan man will stand trial in the death of his girlfriend’s 8-month-old son.
The Kalamazoo Gazette reports that 31-year-old Brandon Beshires waived a preliminary examination Tuesday.
Beshires, of Benton Harbor, is charged with murder and child abuse.
Carter Donovan suffered head injuries in February while his mother, 31-year-old Autumn Atchley, was at a doctor’s appointment in Coloma.
Authorities say Beshires was with the child for 90 minutes. After Atchley returned to the vehicle they drove Carter to a hospital.
Beshires was not the boy’s father.
A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Sept. 23.
