Several schools issuing delays as dense fog settles in Michiana

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the entire 95.3 MNC listening area through 9 a.m. Eastern time.

Widespread dense fog can be expected through mid-morning. Visibility will be reduced to one quarter mile or less in many locations, including the South Bend metro area. Near-zero visibility is possible, especially in rural areas.

Drivers should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic, as well as stopped school buses and children near bus stops. Police advise drivers to slow down, use regular beam headlights and leave plenty of distance from other vehicles.

As a result of the dense fog advisory, several schools have issued two hour delays including Baugo, Concord, Elkhart, Fairfield, Goshen, John Glenn, Lakeland, Middlebury, Penn-Harris-Madison, Warsaw, Westview and several other school districts.
