Two shot in South Bend’s near northwest neighborhood

Shots rang out in the near northwest neighborhood of South Bend Friday afternoon.

“At 4:33 pm, South Bend police were dispatched to the 1100 block of North Cleveland Street, referencing shot spotter alert for 4 gunshots,” said South Bend police captain Tim Lancaster told our reporting partners at ABC 57.

A man and woman were both found suffering from gunshot wounds. A woman was shot in her abdomen, while a man was shot in the leg.

A witness at the scene said he heard a couple shots, a pause, then a couple more shots.

No word on suspects or arrests, but the investigation is ongoing.
