Historic Goshen building getting new life breathed into it by LaCasa

LaCasa Inc. has revealed their plan to renovate the century-old Hawks Arts and Enterprise Center in Goshen.

A $6 million plan is in place to rehabilitate the historic brick building. If the plans come to fruition, the north side of the Hawks Building will resemble the south side, according to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.

The south side has featured 35 affordable lofts for artists and entrepreneurs. The north side, which is currently vacant, would be home to an additional 23 affordable lofts.

The project will also include the construction of 10 single-family homes scattered around the city on various empty lots.

The Goshen City Council has tentatively agreed to provide $100,000 toward the project.  LaCasa is currently applying for grants to fund the remaining parts of the project.
