Elkhart man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after shooting

(Ben Quiggle/Elkhart Truth)

A man is still recovering at Elkhart General Hospital Thursday, a day after shots rang out at an apartment complex.

Elkhart police responded to the 3200 block of Burr Oak Avenue in the Carriage House Apartment complex at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. This following a fight among a group of people, according to the Elkhart Truth.

When fists turned into gunfire, the 35-year-old man and some friends got into a car and sped off. The man was hit when shots fired at the car. The car continued on to the hospital.

This is the second shooting at that apartment complex since mid-June. On June 14, a pair of bullets hit a 23-year-old man. He survived despite bullet wounds to the abdomen and arm.

There were two altercations that took place at the complex Wednesday. Elkhart detectives are still sorting out what happened and haven’t made any arrests yet.

If you have information on the shooting, contact the Elkhart Police Department at 574-295-7070 or the tip line at 574-389-4777.
