More than half of St. Joseph County voters cast a ballot

Voter turnout was strong in St. Joseph County for the 2016 general election, spurred by a contentious presidential race.

The St. Joseph County Election Board counted 113,063 ballots for the 2016 general election. That’s about 53 percent of registered voters in the county. Of those, 41,787 voters cast straight-ticket ballots.

In 2012, 111,622 people voted in St. Joseph County.
