Indiana State Parks offering free admission on Black Friday

Large department stores aren’t the only place you can score a great deal on Black Friday.

Admission will be free to all Indiana State Parks the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 25, according to DNR. The 100 percent off sale is part of a partnership to get people outside on a day were people are usually inside shopping, according to WOWO.

The offer is good for state parks, state reservoirs and state forest recreation areas.

“Visitors can come after they are done shopping and decompress, or avoid stores altogether and hit the outdoors,” according to the DNR.

REI, an outdoor gear retailer, started an #OptOutside initiative in 2015. It closed all its stores on Black Friday in an effort to encourage people to experience nature instead of shopping.
