The man who died in a crash near Millersburg has been identified.

Police say David Teel, 54, of Cromwell was behind the wheel of the pickup when he failed to negotiate a curve in the area of County Road 43 and County Road 46, near Millersburg, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

It’s believed the crash happened Sunday night, though it wasn’t until around 10 a.m. on Monday that the crash scene was discovered. The vehicle went straight through some trees, then down over a creek, then collided with a tree before coming to rest on its left side against a tree, according to the sheriff’s department.

Teel was not wearing a seatbelt, the sheriff’s report stated.
