GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) — Republicans in Elkhart County are set to select a new county prosecutor who will replace state Attorney General-elect Curtis Hill.

Republican precinct committee members are scheduled to meet Friday in Goshen for the vote. The winner will complete Hill’s term as county prosecutor, which runs until the end of 2018.

Hill takes office in January as state attorney general after winning the Nov. 8 election to succeed Republican Greg Zoeller, who didn’t seek a third term.

Hill endorsed Chief Deputy Prosecutor Vicki Becker to complete his Elkhart County term. Others face a Tuesday deadline to declare their candidacies. Hill has been the county prosecutor since 2003.
