20-year-old man charged with murder following Benton Harbor fatal shooting

An arrest has been made in a deadly shooting in Benton Township.

The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Anthony Sanders. Police say Sanders admitted involvement in the homicide, according to ABC 57.

It was Wednesday night when 43-year-old Kenneth Martin Jr. was walking with a woman in the 1900 block of Empire Avenue when police say Sanders approached, tried to rob them, and shot Martin. He died shortly afterward. The woman was not injured.

Detectives received information during the investigation that led to Sanders’ arrest. He was taken into custody on charges of open murder, armed robbery, and felony possession of a firearm.
