There has been an arrest made, connected to a deadly shooting in South Bend’s Riverpark neighborhood.
South Bend Police were called to the 1300 block of 31st Street just after 10 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, where a male victim was shot. The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit has been leading the investigation ever since.
One male victim was found deceased in the home from at least one apparent gunshot wound. The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit was called to lead the investigation.
Investigators conducted several interviews with witnesses that were at the residence when the incident occurred. Initial information was that a family dispute resulted in shots being fired and the victim sustaining lethal injuries, according to a news release from Metro Homicide.
The victim has been identified as Curdin A. Gizewski, 25.
The suspect is identified as James Griffin, 47. He was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail on a preliminary charge of voluntary manslaughter.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday in Kalamazoo.
