New Buffalo church getting new life as a brew pub

It’s been around for 155 years, and is about to enter a new chapter in its life.

The former Water’s Edge United Methodist Church was built in 1861 in New Buffalo. Today’s it’s in the process of transforming into a brew pub called the Beer Church, according to the South Bend Tribune.

The former church is still undergoing remodeling, including preservation of the original pine wood floors, but should be ready to complete it’s transformation into a brew pub in the next few weeks.

Beer Church will be a 35-seat taproom at a very visible spot at U.S. 12 and Whittaker Street. It will begin serving 4 types of beer, and will eventually also feature a restaurant area with another 160 seats that will serve Neapolitan Pizza.
