One dead after van collides with semi truck on Indiana Toll Road

A Wisconsin man died and another person was injured in a crash on the Indiana Toll Road on Thursday.

Orland and Fremont rescue crews responded to the 133 mile marker on eastbound Indiana Toll Road on around 9:15 a.m. Thursday on reports of a crash, according to the Orland Fire Department and WOWO.

Investigators believe a 1999 Ford van crossed the median and was struck by a semi. A man was stuck inside the semi and it took 37 minutes to extricate him from the vehicle.

The Michigan man was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition.

Both eastbound lanes of the Toll Road was closed for a portion of the day on Thursday.

Police haven’t released the name of the person killed. The crash is still under investigation.
