UPDATE: Power was restored to all customers affected by the outage by late Friday night.

ORIGINAL STORY: A widespread power outage left more than 6,500 Indiana Michigan Power customers without electricity on Friday afternoon, Jan. 6.

Outages were reported beginning around 2:20 p.m. near the University of Notre Dame. The outage is also affecting traffic signals and some businesses and homes along SR 933 toward the Indiana-Michigan State border.

The outage also includes the MNC radio transmitter, which is why 95.3 FM is off-air on Friday afternoon.

Listeners can still hear MNC on 1340 AM and online.

Police remind you to treat all intersection with traffic lights out as four-way stops.

Restoration may not happen for all customers without power until 7 p.m., according to Indiana Michigan Power.
