Buchanan, Michigan officials considering welcoming medical marijuana businesses

Buchanan officials are looking for a quick decision about possible medical marijuana business in the city.

Buchanan is considering welcoming commercial marijuana ventures, according to the South Bend Tribune.

Those ventures are now permitted under changes made in December to Michigan’s medical cannabis laws. The possibility of selling the bud in the Red Bud City was the subject of a packed meeting Tuesday evening that included a 90-minute informational session for the public.

Mayor Brenda Hess and City Manager Bill Marx say they expect a Commission decision by the end of February.

Those who are for or against a dispensary in Buchanan will have the chance to say their peace at a public input session scheduled for next Mon., Feb. 13 or a week later at Mon., Feb. 20.
