Police respond to early morning shootings in South Bend, Benton Harbor

A pair of shootings kept area police officers busy early Thursday morning.

South Bend Police responded to a report of a shooting Thursday morning. An adult male in his 20s was found to have been shot in the leg early around 3:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Diamond Avenue. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and there is a suspect in custody who was spotted by police walking away from the scene.

Further north, a person was also shot shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday morning in Benton Harbor. Few details have been released, but Berrien County officers reported that one person was shot in the 700 block of McAlister. There is no word about the victim, their condition, or of a suspect. The investigation continues.
