South Shore Line officials eye Munster property for expansion plans

South Shore Line officials say area developers see their latest extension plan as a boon to the area.

Those developers managed to get great deals on available property that was discounted due to uncertainty about the South Shore plan. Now, that land in the West Lake Estates neighborhood in Munster looks to become more valuable, according to the (Northwest) Times.

The 15 acres border the CSX freight railroad and, if current plans reach a conclusion, it will be the South Shore Line’s West Lake Corridor in five years.

As area residents get the chance at two public forums this week to voice their opinions on the development plans, the developers see the train as a bonus.
