The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit released the following information about Saturday’s deadly shooting in South Bend:
At approximately 1:53 a.m. this morning, February 18th, 2017, the South Bend Police Department received a Shotspotter notification in the 1000 block of Yukon St. Officers were dispatched to the area and found four victims, three males and a female, which had sustained gunshot wounds. All four victims were transported by emergency first responders to an area hospital.
The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit was activated and is currently handling the investigation.
One of the victims, 24 year old Michael Willie Briggs of South Bend, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The other two male victims, both 24 years of age, initially were listed as critical with life threatening injuries, and have since been upgraded to stable condition. The female victim, 34 years of age, was treated for her injuries and has since been released from the hospital.
An extensive crime scene was identified in the area of the 1000 and 1100 blocks of Yukon St. and investigators have been working throughout the early morning and afternoon documenting and gathering evidence. Additionally, several witnesses have been interviewed at the County Metro Homicide Unit.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday morning, February 20th, in Kalamazoo. Once the examination is completed, results of the autopsy will be shared with the media.
No arrests have been made at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: One person was killed and at least three others were injured in a shooting on the northwest side of South Bend.
It happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, near the intersection of Yukon Street and Woodward Avenue according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.
Witnesses reported hearing more than a dozen gunshots.
Yukon Street was blocked from Portage Avenue to Riverside Drive through late morning for the investigation, ABC 57 reported.
