Buchanan’s City Commission is in no hurry to make a decision on retail medical marijuana.

The City Commission is holding off the vote to allow the retail dispensaries, after a great deal of heated discussion this week, according to WSJM.

Mayor Brenda Hess and other commissioners are still looking for more input, as is the very divided public. The new Michigan Marijuana Facilities Act creates five licenses, including provisioning centers, which are another name for retail dispensaries.

The new rules go into effect in December. However, the state can’t force communities to adopt the law.

The commission is expected to vote on the matter on March 27.
