A groundbreaking ceremony has been scheduled for Wednesday for a new mixed use residential housing at South Bend’s baseball stadium.

Groundbreaking for the $22 million development known as ‘The Ivy at Berlin Place’ is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 22 near the main entrance to Four Winds Field.

Andrew T. Berlin, sole owner of the South Bend Cubs, is also a developer and investor in the first residential housing complex there. He’ll be joined by city and county leaders, including Mayor Pete Buttigieg, South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeff Rea, and others.

Berlin says he plans to live at the development as well, whenever he’s in town for games. He and the other new and future residents of The Ivy at Berlin Place will have their names engraved on brick pavers that will be set in the courtyard outside the stadium walls.
